Pretty, functional bookbag5
This bookbag is awesome! It's really the best bookbag I've ever owned. I'm in graduate school and I use this all the time, and I really think it'll be the first bookbag I've owned that won't get all beat up and ripped looking pretty soon. I bought it back in March, and it's still bright and not dirty at all! I bought the Pink Plaid variety.

This bag has a million pockets, and it's so nice and roomy. I can fit everything I need in here. There's a front insulated pocket for food or a drink (right now I have two pairs of flip-flops in there so you know how big it is), a bigger middle pocket that has several smaller slots for an mp3 player, your pens, cords, headphones, whatever...and a very, very roomy main pocket. Right now in the main pocket I have my Wii, 4 Wii games in the cases, a game controller, my Nintendo DS and that game case, a folder, and a book, and there's still room for my 13.3" computer (I know because I just took it out) and my external hard drive. Just so you know, there's an extra laptop pocket in the main pocket. There's also a felt-lined pocket on top of the bag that's made for sunglasses, but I store my computer adapter in there (don't wear sunglasses) and two small pockets on the side...not sure what you could keep in there, but you can reach them while the bag's on your back.

With all that stuff loaded up on my back I don't even feel the heavy weight of it all unless I've had the bag on my back for a few hours. The back and straps are padded to relieve pain (which is a BIG draw for me because I have chronic back pain) and the cloth the bookbag is made out of is very durable. I have been telling everyone where I got this bookbag from, and I get compliments on its style all the time. Honestly, one of the best $45 you'll spend. Shell out the extra money and get a durable bookbag...your back will thank you (and so will your pocket when you don't need another one a year from now).

Cute and Functional - Just what I needed5
I needed a backpack for school that will accommodate a laptop and a couple of books while looking good. This backpack is exactly what I needed. All my stuff fits in comfortably. Straps are nice and sturdy and they don't cut into my shoulders. Material is durable, stitching is good quality. I like the rubbery inside which makes the bag waterproof (I did not test it in pouring rain but whatever ran off my umbrella did not get through). Nice front pocket for your pens, phone, etc. Insulated cooler pocket is a nice touch but I don't use it for lunch and such. It is really deep lengthwise but not deep enough front to back to hold anything thicker than a regular sandwich or maybe a banana (but you can stack a lot of bananas and sandwiches :)). Side pockets are awesome! Both can fit a regular plastic water bottle but one has a mesh and drawstring inside so it expands to hold your bigger fancy water bottles (or whatever else). This backpack is super cute too! Definitely a girly print (poodles and tiny cars) but I like that. I got a lot of compliments on this backpack.

Fricken Amazing!!5
So I am A typical college student with a ton of books! It fits them all and everything in between. I also commute on the bus and it works really well for that. The water bottle pocket is really tight. I have gotten ton of complements on how cute it is!! Its a chick back pack and the inside has blue polka dots and a compartment for a labtop!!!

Great piece of luggage4
I took this bag on an 8 day trip and was able to fit all my stuff in there pretty handily. The pockets on the inside flap allow you to open the bag without everything falling everywhere each time you open it. If you haven't bought new luggage recently, you'll be surprised how light this one is. Get one of the colored bags, it definitely stands out on the luggage carousel.

Super Suitcase5
This is a great bag. I have one I've used for a year. I actually ordered it for my husband, but I started using it. Now I'm ordering another one for him.

Very nice bag5
I love this bag. I haven't used it much, but from what I can see, it's durable and roomy. Lots of pockets. Cute inner lining. I just wish it's not so expensive and comes in other colors. I'm not too fond of the pukey green color. Also, note that there are other Trevina bags that are made with cotton/suede. This particular one is made of nylon, I believe. So it's more waterproof.

Everything it promises to be and more5
I had the pleasure of using this bag on a recent trip and am very impressed. It was the first time I had really done the carry-on thing and I was a little concerned because I have never in my life not checked in at least SOME luggage.

I used this in conjunction with Rick Steves packing cubes and his small toiletry hang bag. I highly recommend purchasing these two accessories to really make the bag work. Without a method of dividing/organizing the space in the bag, some might just see it as a single compartment and fail to appreciate the utility and brilliance of the overall design. I also used a space bag to shrink a Patagonia R4 Polar fleece into a flat neat little package that fit in with all the rest of the stuff too.

After not having to wait in line to check my bags, or wait to get them, I now realize I have probably spent a couple of days worth of my life waiting in line and around the bag carousel.

The bag is really tough. I wouldn't recommend it for hardcore backpacking in the woods, but for home to airport, airport to rental car/public transport then to hotel this is the bomb. Unexpanded it fits into the airline template for carry ons and perfectly into the overhead compartment on the plane. For maximum comfort i would suggest keeping your over all pack weight to under 20lbs (which I believe is also carry on maximum weight).

I love the little extras like the hidden passport pocket, the overbuilt zippers and the two white laundry mesh bags that were a bonus with my purchase. It is really light empty which means you can pack more into it then the same size rolling luggage version with a retractable handle. I get the feeling that this is a finished product that has gone through a lot of evolution, and that this is the final refinement. I should also mention that the two handles, one on the top and the other on the side are strong, comfortably padded, and really a joy to grip. They make handling the bag when you are not using the backpack straps really easy. The compression straps to tighten everything down before you close the bag work great and there are lots of easily accessible outside pockets and places to put my water bottle.

I feel really strange about gushing over a backpack, but what I'm really the most happy about is this sense of new found freedom when I travel with it. I wouldn't hesitate to get one if you are looking to try traveling faster and lighter (with the accessories aforementioned).

I'm so impressed with the quality and design, I look forward to taking it on a bonafide Rick Steves tour one day!

The perfect bag. Great details, and a great value.5
We own last year's version of this bag, made by the same manufacturer for Rick as this new one. If the new and improved version is "the same but better", then you can not go wrong by getting this bag. The bag was so good that we bought a second one. Lived out of them for 2-1/2 weeks in Europe last summer. We also bought a set each of the Rick Steves' packing cubes, which exactly fit inside the convertible carry-on bag. Lots of compartments, thoughtfully placed, and some bonus internal cinch-sacks and a "secret" document pouch that clips into the bottom of the bag. More pluses are stow-away backpack and waist straps, side cinch straps, and it is expandable via a wrap-around zipper. The material is strong enough for its use and you will simply not believe how much can be packed into this bag. If you are familiar with Rick's travel philosophy (travel light and carry-on) this is the perfect bag. You will not find a bag with as many thoughtful details as this bag for twice the price - I know because I looked at most of them prior to deciding on Rick's bag. For more on Rick's travel philosophy and travel suggestions get his book Europe Through the Back Door. Invaluable.

Handled One Deployment and One Vacation3
I took this thing to Iraq and back, then back across the Atlantic for a Baltic cruise. It's been aboard UH-60s and CH-47s, as cargo on C-130s and C-17s, then civilian baggage handlers across the states four times. It's rolled over sand, dust, gravel, rocks, slush, snow and been dragged like a sled through mud. Not to mention being handled by cruise ship luggage staff on and off of a cruise liner.

I would call that a fairly comprehensive test of durability. It did OK, but not awesome. I had come to know 5.11 as possessing some quite robust design but was ultimately disappointed. The seams busted on the top half of the front from what I believe was a yanking motion by a US baggage handler.

Pros: Great size for all uniforms needed for a year in the desert including a pair of boots and some moderate winter gear. Decent sized and fairly sturdy wheels, they've never chipped, cracked or worn oddly; I should know how tough they are, I chipped a bone on my little toe walking into it. While not specifically waterproof or even water resistant, it does a pretty good job keeping your clothes dry while traveling in the rainy season in Iraq. I still suggest carrying daily outfits in a 2.5 gallon zip-lock inside the bag. I wish I had this thing when I was in Afghanistan. Not a single zipper on this thing has come close to failing even with considerable use. The netting inside that keeps your clothes organized when you flip it open has never torn or disintegrated as I've seen on other bags. Half the time, I clip the extend-able handle of this thing in the shoulder strap of my backpack and forget it's behind me.

Cons: The significantly beefed up cloth handle on the very top of the bag is not really connected to much material. The material around it has come apart probably from over-packing and airline baggage handlers can be a little mean to oversize luggage, even if you pay for it. The seams on the top of mine have come apart in the process. Funny how it survived Iraq to be ripped apart by baggage handlers on domestic flights. It sleds a bit through gravel, slush and mud; I would have liked the wheels to be a bit bigger. If you take a hard corner, like any long rolling luggage, it will roll over on you and force you to stop and right your bag. Oh, when I emailed the contact at 5.11 when I got back to see whether they could help me out with their "Tactical Mission Ready" rolling duffel after the seams blew apart under what I consider normal wear for a 'Tactical' bag, I got no response. Nothing. I emailed twice, from two email address'. I'm still disappointed. Not even a "Hey, sorry, here's the fine print. You shouldn't have had 80lbs in that thing." Nothing.
